Fasting Journal 18: Losing your taste for certain foods
As I mentioned yesterday, and this may be happening to you too, my love of certain vegetables is waning. I'm hoping it's a phase but in the meantime I'm curious as to why this is happening.
Being a fervent believer that the body knows best, I set about to find out more about why this is happening. And I've learned that it's not just me. Chatting with friends, of which some are vegetarians, they're noticing a similar trend. Vegetarians no less!!!
So far, most of my research has turned up loads of information on the importance of vegetables and why we need to learn to like them. The problem is, I already DID like them and now, well, not so much.
Is it possible that I'm getting all of my nutrient requirements without the need for so many different vegetables in my diet? Am I just becoming a picky eater? Are the vegetables not as good as they once were? Is it all in my head?
Of course if you add enough cheese or butter to any food it will taste great. But that's the butter or cheese we're tasting, not the veg. Are we masking a flavor that could be telling us that our bodies don't want that food because it's not good for us (at least not at the moment)? Is kale really all that awesome or is it not so virtuous?
These are some of the thoughts floating around in my head. So I'm going to keep digging. When I come up with something interesting I'll share it with you.
Of course if you have some thoughts on this subject drop me a private note here or use the form at the end of this page to share with everyone.
