"Life in the Fast Lane"

Fasting Journal 8:  Let's talk about water

So how much water do we really need?  It seems we need a minimum of 6 to 8 glasses of water every day.  It doesn't have to be water - all fluids count (except alcohol).  But water is best.

I personally drink about 6 big mugs of decaf black coffee every day.  I also drink about 2 to 3 herbal teas.  And I definitely drink plenty of water.

If it's really hot out or I'm working up a sweat, I often add a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt to replenish electrolytes which get flushed out through urine and sweat.

Water also flushes out toxins and waste products which is particularly nice when you imagine that old fat being flushed down the toilet!

Water is crucial for proper brain function, the flow of your blood, your breathing and the maintenance of your bones.  Your skin loves you when you're properly hydrated too.  And it helps you poop better.  There!  I said it.

Have you ever had to give blood or have blood drawn and not being properly hydrated?  Your blood doesn't flow as well.  Drink lots of water before your blood test and watch it flow effortlessly.  Water is awesome for your circulation.

Everyone has different needs.  But as a minimum, aim for 8 glasses of water a day.  Your body and your mind will thank you for it.
